Well today on our 289 mile ride to Amsterdam from Hamburg, Germany our luck with the weather ran out. About half way the sky just opened up and it poured for about thirty minutes. Our Goretex gear kept us dry and warm but it's very difficult to ride because motorcycles don't have windshield wipers like cars. The trick is to keep moving and let the windscreen direct the rain over us. That works just fine until the rain is too heavy.
Today's ride was through flat farmland, reminded me of southern Minnesota or Iowa. Interesting that the farm houses and barns in Germany are made of red brick. Farmers must do well in this part of Europe. Also a lot of dairy cattle.
We arrived Amsterdam at 15:00 so had time to shower and do laundry before walking around town and having dinner at my favorite restaurant here, Ristorante Savini. I've been coming here since 1989 because of my time at NWA and our code share with KLM. The food was as good as ever.
Tomorrow I get the bike serviced at the local BMW dealer while Sara takes Jim and Rosie on a museum tour and a visit to the Anne Frank House.
