Here it is the 25th day of our adventure and our first real rain. Loaded the bikes in the rain in Malmo, Sweden and headed for the bridge/tunnel between Malmo and Copenhagen. It took seven years to build and was opened in 2000. It includes a manmade island, a long bridge and a 2.5 mile tunnel. The design was to deal with the airport, ships and ice flow. The name is the Oresund Bridge. The toll is 29 Euros or $34 for us and the moto.
From Copenhagen we rode down to Rodbyhavn, Denmark and took the 45 minute ferry over to Puttgarden, Germany. From Puttgarden it was only a 95 mile ride over to Hamburg. We only rode the autobahn at 75mph and people passed us like we were standing still. I'd guess their speed to be 120 or 130mph. It is really fun driving here because drivers aren't always changing lanes, etc. When a faster car approaches all pull over to let the car go by. And then there is the beauty of lane splitting for motorcycles. Once off a major highway there are round-abouts everywhere and they allow traffic to flow without sitting red lights. Boy, could we ever learn from the Europeans.
The last forty of miles or so coming into Hamburg there was construction on the autobahn so the ability to lane split sure helped. Also, the rain stopped.
Really a very relaxing day.
