Day 16 - Steinkjer, Norway

Today was our first long ride day in Norway. 281 miles of really great highways but with the top posted speed limit of 54mph it takes a really long time to cover any distance. We were blessed with perfect weather, a blue sky day and starting out at 51 degrees and ending up at nearly 70. Not sure how much longer our luck with the weather will last as we travel North. Day after tomorrow we'll cross the Arctic Circle.

There were picture perfect farms all along today's ride. The barns are always painted red and the farm houses just about always white. Most of the fields are on hillsides and face South for Sun. The roofs are very pitched due to the snow. Speaking of, today we saw our first snow capped mountains.

We've been making our 'lunch' sandwiches at breakfast due to the high cost of everything here in Norway. Gasoline is $9 plus per gallon. An ice cream bar we'd pay $4 for a home is nearly twice that here.

Talked to some BMW Moto Riders the other day and they said the import tax for vehicles is 180%. Can't say that I'd really care to live in a place like this were most everything a person makes goes to the government.

This is Adventure trip that'll give my my 4th corner of the world, so that is the reason for this ride. Any rides in the future will be in Germany, France, Italy, etc. where the cost of things is within reason.
